Officials said in a news release that whatever the event is, it will have a “significant economic impact” on the Twin Cities along with more than a dozen suburbs. The early speculation as that Target Field will serve as the host for the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

not the MLB all-star game but a $60 Million event nonetheless. Set Me, Set ME damit!

Good news! And I wouldn't be surprised if we were to get the MLB all-star game and hopefully the outdoor NHL classic. Now, the World Series or Stanley Cup, that may take a bit longer.

How big of a deal is this? I thought some conventions brought like 100,000 visitors....or is that a gross exaggeration?

I have read that the MLB All Star game can bring in 100,000 people.

I remember reading recently that we are on the short list to get the MLB all star game in the near future. The winter classic really needs to come to Minnesota, which, whenever that is, will probably be long before the Twins or Wild make their respective championship series.
