Hi, all

My Mom lives in St. Paul, so we came for a visit. One "must do" on her list was the Como Park Merry-Go-Round.

She took me and my daughter. What I encountered was a long wait to ride on a run of the mill looking Merry-Go-Round complete with out of tune music and old ladies that swat your feet if you put them on the wrong part of the horse. I would say the worst part of the ride was the crabby old ladies running the ride.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I don't think I've ever held a Marry-Go-Round in such high esteem as you, but if I did my guess is I'd be disappointed too.

Oh, it wasn't me holding it in such high esteem. It was my mom.

Run of the mill? It's nearly 100 years old, and built by German craftsman.

I remember riding as a child when it was located in Town Square Park. I never found anything particularly creepy about it...

Cafesjian's Carousel...I had almost commented on this in a similar fashion as I worked for the Property Mgmt Co. at Town Square at the time and remembered the big to-do in getting this set-up and the grand opening. Did spend a lot of time up there when the park was closed doing maintenance (not on the carousel) and admiring the intricate carvings and always regretted not taking lots of pics at my leisure. As the food court transitioned from retail to gov't offices, the visitors decreased and the maintenance funding dried up.

Cafesjians Carousel--Welcome
