Dad died in MN. I live out of state. Co-executors are giving me a hard time. I need an attorney. Any referrals?

Thanks.

Sorry about your loss.

I think you might need to define your needs a little better before starting out. For example -

- What part of the state? If it's in the Twin Cities there are lots of options but I wouldn't choose a Twin Cities lawyer (and their billing rate) for a Mankato resident

- What size is the estate? If it's large and complex you need a lawyer who has lots of experience with that type. If it's smaller with maybe just a house and some easy assets then a lot of smaller 1-2 person shop can do it at a substantially smaller fee and they wouldn't really have to be a specialist.

The old rule of thumb was expect about 3% of the estate to go to the estate lawyer. Not sure if that still holds true as I would suspect it has a lot more to do with the complexity and size of the estate.

Thanks for the referral. I have contacted my dad's attorney, but it is possible there may be some conflict of interests. If I don't get anywhere with him, I will call her.

Also, thanks, Bill.
