Wow. Doubling the size might make it the largest mall in the world. At least we'll finally be getting rid of that empty lot next to IKEA.

No....Mall of Dubai is over 12 million SF in total space, and this would only be about 10 million. Then there's leasable space, and I'm not sure where the MOA would rank after the expansion, but likely in the top 3 or 5.

Only 10 mil SF? Small dinky mall 4.2 mil SF + ~1.2 mil SF for "Camp Snoopy" + a 5.6 mil SF expansion = one big building. I'm not sure if official rankings include Nickelodeon Universe as part of the structure or not.

I've been to the Dubai Mall and it is insane. The Wiki chart seems about right regarding the leasable are vs. total floor space for Dubai. There is a lot of novelty stuff in there, which is okay because no one can afford anything from the actual stores. The Dubai Mall must be 45% jewelry stores. I don't understand how they can all exist.

Very true, but all of the stores were empty. Sure, I guess one guy can come in and drop a fortune on some watch and the store might be have made enough money for the rest of the year. Here are a few of my pics:

I would like to see Dubai some day, maybe, just to see all the unique buildings.

Watching some locals try to skate was fun too. It sure is unique.

I have a bunch of photos in the Travel Forum pictures thread.

Save up so you can purchase some business class seats on Emirates Airlines.
