If you are in the South Metro and want Mexican, El Parian in Eagan is fantastic. I will put it up against any other Mexican restaurant in the Twin Cities.

Is the Ronnally's in Woodbury the same as the one that was on the east side for many years (WB and Maryland or somewhere near there??).

Guissipies in Burnsville and Rosemount has amazing Italian food!

Do they have beer at that place? I'm always looking for interesting pizza places, but not if it's just coke on the menu.

If you like Thai food try "Roat Osha" on Hennepin and like 27th (I think 27th). I have never had a bad meal there and the service is great!

Our faves:

Yarusso's, Cossetta's, Little Oven, Mancini's, Donatelli's, Mama's Pizza, Carbone's

Can you tell we love Italian and hate to stray from the east side?

Touche. Little Oven is also a favorite of mine. They still have that two-for-one deal of their pizza, which is not bad at all, IMO.

Carbone's is and likely always will be my favorite though.

Oh, I just want to add that right by my house Romolo's is under new ownership. I've net ate there under the new ownership yet but they now have a liquor license, and the place has been packed lately. I've heard the pizza recipe is different than the old one I grew up with over here. http://www.yelp.com/biz/romolos-pizza-saint-paul

Try Pizza Luce, they have a fantastic beer list. (At least the one in St Paul does)

La Hacienda - good Salvadorean food, try their Carne Desfilada dish with a pupusa on the side.
La Colonia (formerly La Gran Colombia) - good Colombian food, try their Bandeja Paisa. No sides needed, makes 2-3 meals (at least the last time I was there)
Vendors at the Hmong market - try the larb or som tam, or Hmong sausages.
Fasika - good Ethiopian food, take two friends (one if especially hungry) and order the grand combo platter.
Red Sea Cafe - another good Ethiopian restaurant.
Somali restaurants - Minneapolis is one of the best places to try Somali food. Look for oddly-named restaurants along Lake Street - Hamid, Qoraxlow, etc.
Everest on Grand - Try the *** momos (dumplings). (y a k)
