Hi all,

Thanks for all the help and info in the past, looks like our moving project is progressing nicely.

We found a good house in Edina, now I checked the school (Cornelia Elementary) and I am a bit confused. This is the only one with the rating 6 out of 10 on Greatschools, all other schools in this district are 9-10. Other websites also give significantly lower ratings for this particular elementary school. What is the problem there (if any)? I noticed that this is the "most diverse" school in the district, is it driving the ratings down?
I know the ratings could be subjective but there is a consistency there and, infortunately, I have limited info as we are coming from out of state.

Any thoughts and color are highly appreciated!

Thoughts--using "greatschools", some parent had a beef with a teacher and gave a bad rating. A 6 out of 10 in Edina would be a 15 out of 10 pretty much anywhere else in the country. I wouldn't worry about it AT ALL.

For what it's worth, I know people who actively chose Cornelia -- despite it not being their "local" school -- because they liked it better than the other Edina options. They've been very happy there. Yes, it is the most "diverse" in the district, which is part of the reason they like it so much. I hear it -- and the parent body -- is less "Edina" ( sorry for the stereotype!) than the other schools. If you look at the test scores, you can see that the non-socioeconomically disadvantaged kids are almost all passing, and even for the kids who do qualify for free/reduced lunch, most of them are doing okay, too. I wouldn't be concerned.
