Just wondering. It's not uncommon at all to see Packers fans. Just wondering if there are any native Minnesotans that are Brewers fan, or if you know any yourself. I like both the Twins and the Brewers myself. Never have lived in Wisconsin. I am a native Minnesotan.

It seems like baseball has the least amount of fans that are fans of non Minnesota team. Seems like Minnesota is pretty much Twins country. If you like baseball, than you're most likely a Twins fan. Unlike basketball where it's extremely common to see non Timberwolves fans. I see all sorts of Lakers, Bulls, Heat, Celtics stuff. Sometimes it seems like I see more of that than I do Timberwolves stuff.

I'm a Twins and Brewers fan, but I grew up in Wisconsin. I see an increasing amount of Brewers garb in the Twin Cities, especially the classic ball-and-glove logo.

I think the reasons you see less non-Twins baseball stuff around here are:

(1) on-field performance of the Brewers has been poor except for a few seasons, though they have improved recently

(2) it's baseball, which is less popular anyway

(3) the Brewers and Twins were sadly never really rivals, since they have been in different divisions/leagues for all but six years of their combined existence (1970-1971, 1994-1997) and both teams were bad those years (except for the 1970 Twins). This is one reason why I wish MLB had moved the Brewers to the AL Central instead of moving Houston to the AL West for next year. Even better would have been for Milwaukee and Kansas City to swap places in addition to moving Houston. KC could have then been division rivals with St Louis, and the Twins and Brewers could have been rivals again. That would have given the Brewers a better competitive shot since their current division has two huge powerhouses in St Louis and Cincinnati. It is doubtful Milwaukee will ever win their division.

You see a lot more Packers stuff because (1) there's a strong, competitive rivalry with the Vikings and (2) the Pack has had much on-field success, especially in the last 20 years. Fans are more likely to show allegiance under these circumstances.

Not really.
I really want to go to Miller Park in Milwaukee and watch a Twins-Brewers game. However, the Twins only play in Milwaukee on two dates in 2013, and that's on a Monday and Tuesday...Which will be tough to make.

Has anyone been there? Can anyone desrcibie it's experience? Hotels nearby? Places to go? Miller Park's similarity to Target Field experience.

This past summer I drove to KC to catch a Royals-Twins game and it was fabulous. Great stadium, great city. The hotel was across the street from Kauffman Stadium, which made it very convenient. I had a great time too since the trip took only about 6 hrs.

I prefer Miller Park to Target Field. The tailgating experience is superior. The stadium itself feels much larger inside and more expansive.

If you go to Milwaukee, don't miss the Safe House. It's the best bar in the world. Entry requires a password

Lots of UMN students. If you go to a Twins-Brewers game you will see a lot of college age kids from the U who are Brewers fans.

A lot of Cubs fans in Minnesota, which is funny because they are a horrible team.

This is a phenomenon that I cannot explain. But Packers fans absolutely hate the Vikings but I would say 90% of them like the Twins more than they like the Brewers. So I would say it would be very difficult to find a Minnesotan who is a Brewers fan. In fact, I think you would be hard pressed to find many people in Wisconsin who would call themselves a Brewers fan. Mostly I think they are fans of MLB.

We have been to a few Twins-Brewers games at Miller Park and usually the cheers for the Twins are at least equal to those for the Brewers.

I almost pulled out all my hair when I saw this post!

Brewers rank second in MLB fan identification survey - JSOnline

A research company, Scarborough, ranked the 30 clubs in Major League Baseball in terms of what percentage of people surveyed in a market say they are fans of the local team.

The Brewers finished second in the survey, with 73% of those surveyed in Milwaukee saying they were fans of the team.

Only respondents in St. Louis delivered a higher percentage, with 81% in that market saying they were Cardinals fans.

The top six MLB teams in fan identification:
  • 1. Cardinals: 81%
  • 2. Brewers: 73%
  • 3. Red Sox: 68%
  • 4. Reds: 67%
  • 5. Tigers: 67%
  • 6. Twins: 66%
Milwaukee Brewer Attendance in past 6 years:

Year, Rank in MLB, Total, Percentage of Capacity, Game Average

2012: 10th, 2,831,385, 83.4%, 34,955
2011: 5th, 3,071,373, 90.5%, 37,918
2010: 9th, 2,776,531, 80.8%, 34,278
2009: 6th, 3,037,451, 88.4%, 37,499
2008: 8th, 3,068,458, 89.3%, 37,882
2007: 11th, 2,869,144, 83.5%, 35,421

For a Metro area of 2.1M in 7 Counties to draw 3M fans is nice feat and very impressive for "baseball's smallest market", average around 35,000 a night over the last 6 years is impressive.

Not only do people in WI follow the Brewers and brewers news the MLB Brewers blog is the 8th most read blog out of 30 MLB teams, it takes a lot of devoted fans to make up for a state that has fewer people in the whole state than some teams have in their city. For your post about brewers fans is so off base that it should cost you -20 rep points, what's next? Red Sox fans can't sell out Fenway Park?

Thank You, Brewer Nation! « The Brewer Nation
