What do I hate most about Mpls, you ask?

Threads like this one have to be contenders.

I reported the one troll. "Personal attacks" I thought were against the rules here, but apparently not.

I've basically not been engaging the trolls; I said something that hurt their bleeding heart narrative regarding the OP question and they can't handle it.

As I posted before, I'll post again: move along, everyone. Nothing to see here.
How come everytime I look into what Minnesota/MPLS is like, I always find something about 'racist/racism'(even UMinnesota)?
Not a good sign at all... (smoke/fire saying)
Ill quietly walk away...
And yes, Ill make sure the door doesnt hit me on the way out, before you guys say that.

Minnesota is one of those places where nobody is racist, they just happen to dislike people of other races. It's different!

I know the East Side aka Lower east side, East St. Paul pretty well.

I have seen numerous changes over the many years.

From economics, to different cultures moving into the area, to business' closing that had been their for years, then changing to different ethinic business.

Crime increase: theft, shootings, gangs, and drug related crimes, sex trafficking.

And yeppers, I know what Pot looks like. Surprise for ya there I know for a few of you

I myself sold my home of 20 years, due largely to this.

I raised my children in this home. Without many worries. neighbors knew neighbors, my children could be out and about without much worries.

No way would I raise my children today in that same house and neighborhood.

Do I think it is because of different cultures moving in.
Yes, partially.
And no, partially.

I do believe that with all the different cultures that moved into the East Side Asian, Hispanic, Somalias, etc it was a fast and huge influx.
And people of ALL origins, including white(Norwegian, Scandanavian, German, Irish, Italian etc) that had and have resided in this area for generations had alot thrown at them.

And no where that I know of were there "programs" to help the them to deal with all the change.
And of course native Eastsiders are going to be upset, I feel they have every right to be.

Change and being tolerant was forced down their throats.
Without much if no respect for them.

My two cents

Sorta interesting that most of the answers about what do you hate about Minneapolis are from people in St. Paul.

Nah, not really.

Should of said in my post that I was referring to the posts going back and forth about the East Side.

No need to look more into it than neccesary

To be fair you could say this about all of the CD forums. This whole site is crawling with bigoted concern trolls and worse.

Both Seattle and Portland have been making the news over the past few years regarding police brutality and deteriorating relationship with minorities - a hell of a lot more than I've read happening in MSP - so I wouldn't straddle that high horse just yet.

Like- The people, laid back attitude (live and let live), progressiveness, lakes, colleges.

Dislikes- When people don't use turn signals, freezing wind during winter, people who are clearly speeding on the freeway.

My biggest dislike is when non-whites call whites racist. I am Latino and have never experienced racism from whites, nor has anyone in my family. In fact, when I was in school, my biggest tormentors were blacks and other latinos. However, I never called blacks racist for doing so, I just called them a-holes.

I think it's common for a person to call another person racist, when in reality the person isn't being racist, they are just rude people.

Remember my mayor in Seattle is openly gay now and my old mayor smoked pot and pushed for legalization, rode his bike to work everyday and we currently have a Marxist socialist on our city council! That's not neo-liberal at all! Now what about Minnesota's finest ambassador, Michelle Bachmann? You think ol' crazy eyes would ever get voted in anywhere on the Best Coast? I think not. The fact is Minnesota, by Best Coast standards is a very socially conservative place. Perhaps because it is so provincial, religious and insular. It is certainly fiscally liberal I will give you that, lots of taxes, anti-business/anti-entrepreneur regulations, massive welfare and social service programs in the state, giant bloated government bureaucracy with its snout in everything everywhere so perhaps that's why you are confused, however socially it is very conservative relative to the coasts, always has been and as usual years behind the times and other more truly progressive states on most socially liberal issues, Right to Die laws, legal marijuana, labeling GM foods, gay marriage etc. Minnesota has either been behind other states in moving forward on these issues or sadly it isn't even debating these issues yet. You will, mark my words, just many years after its said and done out west. Contact your representatives, Franken, Klobuchar etc and ask about legalizing marijuana and see what they have to say! I fear that you will be disappointed if you expect a truly progressive answer. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble or view of themselves or their state as a truly socially progressive place but to us out west, Minnesota is indeed the Mississippi of the Midwest! So yee haw! Get busy changing that or learn to live with the neo-liberal (socially conservative/fiscally liberal) reality that Minnesota embodies.
Minneapolis-St. Paul has more non-whites than lily white Seattle. Easy to be arrogant about so called "greater tolerance" when everyone is of similar ethicity. You ought to be seriously embarrassed as your city is on the West Coast and has no diversity whatsoever. I will call it what it is and it is a combination of racism, arrogance and snobbery. The nonsense fooled no one. Would rather be socially moderate or conservative than socially HYPOCRITICAL. Goodbye. Sorry to burst your arrogant bubble. LOL.

Get busy working to change that lack of diversity before taking silly potshots at any other city or learn to live with the hypocrisy that is the reality the Seattle area too often embodies.

Minnesota was the 12th state legalizing gay marriages, so it was before 38 other states and also before the larger Midwestern states of Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin. If Minnesota is the Mississippi of the Midwest, what state would these five be comparable to? LOL. Minnesota is a progressive state. BTW, eastern Washington is conservative compared to anywhere in Minnesota.

Having said this, I still want to visit Seattle sometime in the near future but would not choose to live there.
