They are not an entrepreneurial people, and that is what Minnesota needs more of.
Minnesota needs more taxpayers to support the corporate and invalid welfare state it has become. Enjoy paying for those new stadiums!

Somali immigrants start way more businesses per capita than 'native' minnesotans.

What a ridiculous statement.

Most people are not entrepreneurial people. There are a lot of entrepreneurial Somalis. I wouldn't be surprised at all of tjasse's statement above is correct, and suspect it most likely is.

Many Somali immigrants have been here for a long time now. They've had time to identify needs, raise money or secure loans, and start businesses. There's a Minnesota Somali chamber of commerce now.

What I hate about this state?
The traffic, and the a s s backward road system.
Gee, lets build some new roads after the people move in and build houses where the roads should be.

And the snow removal on the freeways totally suck. Minnesota should just let the snow plows from Wisconsin keep coming over here to clear the roads.

the road system does suck. I35E has been under construction for as long as I have been alive.

Most of the businesses don't require much capital. It's stuff like shops, food service, transportation, etc.
Somalis have been coming here since 1980. Back in the 1990s you could get a storefront in Cedar Riverside or even Uptown for almost nothing. There is now an existing network of successful Somali american businessmen and loan officers to borrow from.

In winter 2014, maybe it was February, there was thick rough glare ice on I-94 between Saint Paul and the Saint Croix River -- unsafe at any speed over 20 mph. But on the Wisconsin side of the bridge the road surface was clear and dry.

As for the road system, once you get out of Hennepin County they are not too bad... with a few exceptions. Hwy 169 through Anoka sucks horribly.

I have read past posts too numerous to mention praising the snow removal in Minnesota while other areas of the country that get smaller amounts get overwhelmed by it. Wisconsin, however, may be even better at it for all I know. Especially praiseworthy is how MSP airport deals with it so well. It is the best airport in the country overall (and has been rated #1) and effective snow removal is one of many reasons. Some neighborhoods in St. Paul don't have good snow removal judging from past posts (probably those with hilly streets).

Live in a large sunbelt city/metro area like LA, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, or Atlanta for awhile and you would possibly change your mind about the traffic too. Similar sized metros Seattle and San Diego are dealing with areas of traffic gridlock too.
