It will be interesting once they get some of these main, long lines in to see if they eventually start adding in some spurs. For instance, for the blue line they went with the Target/BP option, but I wonder if down the road they might add in the spur over to Maple Grove/Arbor Lakes. I suppose it all depends how ridership and the surrounding areas develop.

I'm pretty "meh" on this line. There seems to have been an honest reason for not running it up Penn (a lot of homes being torn up...too reminiscent of what we did in Rondo with I-94?). And no doubt money had to do with some of it...federal funding requires certain amounts of extra ridership (that can really only be attained by getting lots of suburban riders).

Honestly I'm more concerned about the pitiful alignment of the Southwest LRT. It will leave one of our most dense and urban neighborhoods choked with traffic and under-served, even with all the bus service. Here's to hoping for some streetcars or some (a)BRT.

The Southwest was really messed up. Bypassing south side of downtown Minneapolis, Kentwood, and of course Uptown. Thankfully, it looks like a Midtown Greenway streetcar could be up and runnning possibly before or even the same time as the SW LRT. I think a streetcar on the greenway would be pretty nice because its close to Uptown, an alternative to Lake St., and its right along the bike path.

The Twin Cities could really use a great streetcar system to cover up the LRT faults. I would like to see streetcars in St. Paul too, especially serving some of the colleges Like a Midtown Greenway streetcar somehow connecting with a Grand Avenue streetcar.

While the Midtown Greenway streetcar would likely be a welcome addition, it just doesn't make up for the SWLRT's mistake routing. Obviously I'm armchair quarterbacking here, but we could have killed two birds with one stone running LRT on Lake or the Greenway AND providing access via rail to downtown.

While the Midtown streetcar will provide E-W access, it doesn't solve the need to move a lot of people to downtown from the Uptown area. It would be great to see them run some sort of rail service up Hennepin to downtown (and fix the horrible Hennepin/Lyndale/94 bottleneck while they're at it).
