I don't really have much to say, just that I think MSP is probably the best city I've visited (2004/2005).

It's clean, active, has a great music/food scene, and nice people.

The only thing that kept me and my wife from wanting to move there are the winters. After living in ND for 4 years I didn't want to ever see snow again.

What are the home prices like in some small adjacent cities to the MSP area? Something like 15-20 minutes away.

I'm looking for a house in the Cities or nearby suburbs, and finding a lot of places listed on the Internet in my price range of under $200,000. (I haven't looked at any yet personally, because I'm not in MN yet.) From the neighborhoods I've been looking at, I'd guess $150,000 to $300,000.

Looking for a house under $200k will be really hard in the suburbs surrounding MSP, you will probably find alot of houses under $200k in the northern part of Minneapolis, but that neighborhood is not the best. Prices for a nice house in a suburban region can range from $300k to $1M.

Actually, there are tons of houses under $200K south of lake street and east of Minnehaha, and really all over south minneapolis. Same with the suburbs of St. Paul like Roseville/Little Canada/Falcon Heights / New Brighton.

You can even get a few smaller and/or fixer uppers in the western suburbs (Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Chaska, Chanhassen, Hopkins, St Louis Park) in the $250ish range-- not many sub $200s, other than townhomes or in slightly less desirable areas/school districts.
