Just to get things straight. Define "conservative."

great point SV but principle can be ignored as long as you're the one being overpaid

Maybe it is Minnesota's excellent education system that many of the "extreme" liberals implemented and support, parks, lakes, natural beauty and the plentiful sports and cultural activities (especially for a state with a relatively low to moderate population) that is keeping you here. If you really wanted to get out, you should be able to transfer to another post office in another state without too much delay. Wisconsin is more conservative these days and it is a mere 30 miles away from you.

I just saw you said "former" postal worker, so transferring is not an option. Still, Wisconsin is 30 minutes from you and you still live in Minnesota. Granted, it is not extremely conservative, but its current state government is less progressive than Minnesota.

I like to conserve water. I have a timer for my shower. Shampoo still in hair? Too bad. I'm sure others in TC conserve.

Is there a shortage of water in the land of ten thousand lakes?

You can start to notice the dichotomy in political thinking once you get north of 610 in Brooklyn Park towards Champlin and outward. The liberal part of the TCs is pretty much, IMO, just Minneapolis and St. Paul, but the influence is so massive that I'm predicting we become a swing state by the next election.

A Republican candidate hasn't won this state since Nixon in '72 IIRC. A few close ones here and there. But the idea of MN voting for a R is so out there to me.

And FWIW I voted for Romney and McCain in the last two elections. Maybe if the Repub's nominate Christie or Rubio they'll have a chance here in MN.
