Not familiar with this part of the metro area...what are your opinions or experience with this area?

We got the blue & gold power!
Hey...Hey-Hey!

most of the un-informed here will tell you it's ghetto based on their limited drive-bys of a 2 block area tucked into the Cedar/494 interchange...don't pay any attention to them and drive Old Shakopee Rd from the MOA to 35W and explore the neighborhoods on your own to see how nice it is.

It's not a nice area, there are some parts that are ok, but it's going downhill rapidly. Having spent the better part of 2 months driving through that area a couple times/day because of various traffic detours, it's pretty hit or miss....

Just a bunch of ramblers and a big mall tucked in the corner.
Amazing location.
Edina, Airport, South Minneapolis, MOA

You pretty much just proved ghengis' point but to be fair there are better options.

Speeding through American Blvd near the 494 strip isn't "driving through the area". Though I agree that section is not attractive to be in. South of 86th street where the park reserve and river valley is is actually quite nice and underrated

This is very true. Also, Bloomington has taken great strides to make improvements over the course of the last several years in the area east of 35W, particularly along the Lyndale Avenue corridor (which looks far better than it did a decade ago). Additionally, future growth in the city will primarily occur on the east side, particularly in the vicinity of the light rail and Mall of America.

Continued revitalization of major corridors such as Nicollet and Portland near American Boulevard will make the area even better.
