I'm talking about under 10 years old, things like baseball and soccer and tennis. Are these pretty popular? thanks!

Most...??? Yes, many kids around age 10 participate in park and rec activities but then many also participate in private activities. I don't know that one is more popular than another and it really depends on what is available in each community. When our kids were that age it seemed like just about every kid in town did something through park and rec, but then there were also travel leagues for basketball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, etc. so many kids did both.

My kids are 8, 10 and 13-- each of them has participated in park and rec activities, as well as some private activities-- just depends on the sport/activity which one we'd choose (schedule, reputation, competitive level, etc)-- but virtually everyone I know has their kids in one or more activities offered by park and rec, especially at younger ages.
