Has anybody signed up for this or know anything about it? I see the little Car2Go cars parked all over Minneapolis and this morning I decided to sign up for it, probably out of curiosity/fascination more than anything. I think it's a cool concept to be able to hop into one of these at will and cruise around. I guess that once a member you can use them in any other U.S. city that has them too (Denver, San Diego, Miami, DC, etc.) If I get nothing else out of this experience I guess I can at least scratch off "driven a Smart car" off my bucket list.

We've signed up, but haven't used one yet. I see them all over and have friends and family who have used them both in this city and while traveling. I hope they do well -- it's a neat idea! Unfortunately they don't work for our family of three, but my husband keeps talking about trying one out when he's running somewhere solo.

I haven't used Car2Go but if it's anything like Zipcar then it's a pretty good feature. I used Zipcar a couple of times to go out of town when I lived in NYC. It was more convenient than taking the train because of when and where I needed to go to.

I signed up right during their initial rollout.

It's a really cool service. I have my own car, so this is more of a supplemental service for me. For instance, my car is old and nearing its useful end of life, so I used Car2Go after dropping it off in the shop for some work or when the battery wouldn't start during our -40 degree days this winter. If you want to go out to the bar and know you won't be sober enough to drive home, this is a great way to get to your location with the speed of a car, but then just leave it in a spot on the street so you can bus/cab/walk home. It's great for one way trips or a quick jaunt.

The one downside is definitely cost. It's marginally cheaper than a cab ride. If you're a carless home, the expense can definitely be justified...you don't have any other automobile costs. But since I have a car that is paid for and generally cheap to operate, I use it sparingly.

I've received my membership card for this service but have run into the same issue. I like having this as an option to get to work or somewhere for an errand when I'm by myself and find myself in a bind but unfortunately it isn't a feasible transportation option for the family, which is the main reason why I haven't had a chance to hop in one yet.
