How did we get so much rain at this time? It is mid summer feels like mid fall. I used to live here before don't remember this type of rain. We used to get those pretty thunderstorms in August. But this is not like what we have seen. What is the explanation for this please?

Paul Douglas, Weather Nation, talks about how the jet stream has moved south due to the warming of the polar region. The arctic ice cap is half its normal size due to global warming. Right now, the jet stream is about 400 miles south of normal which had also been the case all last winter. That makes it colder and more stormy than normal in this part of North America. I believe that the rest of the northern hemisphere at this latitude is hotter than normal and had been throughout the winter.
