There are lots of intersections like the one on Cedar Lake and Penn which are home to maybe a handful of neighborhood spots and tucked away in residential areas. I'm a fan of Cuppa Java myself. 48th & Chicago is a larger one, 50th and 34th is another, and Kingfield is littered with little local destinations everywhere.

Bryn Mawr is a strange area. It was attached to Kenwood & Cedar Lake on the South side so it was affluent. On the North side it's attached to North Mpls, which at one time was a nice area as well. Then the race riots happened after MLK & all the money moved out of North Mpls so that got bad. About that same time they built 394, which cut it off from Kenwood & Cedar Lake making it an island for all intents & purposes. Still lot's of nice houses, decent little intersection at Penn Ave, but go a few blocks North & it gets bad real fast.
