Hi All, I will fly this month with family (wife and baby). I read that it's very cold place like Scandinavian country. I am concerned about my little son aged 18months in such cold place.
Can you please suggest whether I should fly alone or with family considering cold in Minneapolis . will my baby be fine over there in winter? Or its a wise to bring them after March? Please suggest..

Thanks,
Arup

Your baby will be fine. You'll have to bundle him up to go outside -- snowsuit, mittens, hat, boots -- which is inconvenient, but he will be perfectly safe.

Make sure to bring appropriate clothes. Heavy coat, hat, gloves, scarves.

Weather's closer to Moscow than it is to Scandinavia, actually, but you might want to consider buying your winter gear here. You could rent a hotel room for a couple days after your flight and take the hotel shuttle from the airport to check in and get your stuff unpacked, then have them drop you off at the Mall of America to buy clothing that works well for the climate. You'll be able to maximize your indoor time before getting proper clothes and won't have to worry about driving in a strange city. If you rent at the hotel at the Mall of America you won't have to step outside, even.

A lot of the local Somalis also work retail and so will also have experience transitioning from hot to cold climates, so you might luck out and find one to advise you while shopping (the women wear headscarves).

If you look around online (LinkedIn?) you can find some Indian expats in the Twin Cities to get advice from as well.

People have been living in Scandinavia and Moscow for centuries with very little affect on children from the weather.
