Need to take the wife out saturday. I know several places are booked. but im sure some aren't. Im in edina so i dont mind staying local. but i also dont mind SLP, or south minneapolis. Looking for something quiet, romantic, not expensive but also great food. i wouldnt mind music in background either. i was thinking dakota jazz club. but any recommendations are welcome.

Brasserie Zentral downtown is relatively new, and I was impressed when we tried it out last summer. Since it's relatively new, it might not be totally booked for V-day. My other suggestion would be Bar la Grassa, but I'm guessing that's already booked, and it can be a little too loud for a romantic dinner.

I also had a really good experience at Brasserie Zentral when I went there; it's not cheap (but still within reason for a special night out), but it was really good.

Barbette or Lucia's in Uptown are both romantic with really good food.

I dont know if you have kids at home

But being a female(it is nice to be taken out for dinner on Valentines), although maybe you want to tell her you are going out to dinner.
Find her something to do for a bit, have her come back home and have a nice light dinner waiting for the wife.
And some light yummy dessert.
Candles lit everywhere

Who knows maybe you will have dessert first

I think some women are more impressed by that.
