The strong El Nino is winding down, less zonal Pacific air across the northern US. April will be colder than average.

I've actually been seeing some trees budding as far north as St. Cloud. Most forecasts are hinting at a return to normal temperatures soon (highs in the 30s and 40s), hopefully this won't throw off the trees too much.

That is not what the weather experts have been saying. They're saying a much warmer than normal April.

Yes, there is some early budding but typically it is only green in Minnesota from mid May to early October. Too short of time. Seven out of twelve months are ugly!

The trees and grass in Central Minnesota are still bare and brown due to the unusually cold April so far. Fortunately, the forecast is showing a long spell of highs in the 60s and 70s that should set things in motion.

Yeah, you guys must have been just a bit colder than here in the Metro. My grass is green and I am debating whether or not I should mow this weekend! My lilac bushes are already starting to leaf out - once it warms up this week things will be popping!
