my out-of-state relatives always comment on how green Minneapolis is when they arrive (on summer trips, that is); it is a very tree-filled city. Unfortunately Dutch Elm disease and now the emerald ash borer -- as well as a few major storms in recent years, not to mention the tornado in north Minneapolis -- have taken a toll and there aren't as many huge trees as there once were (so fewer dramatic streets covered by vast tree canopies), but the city is really good about replacing boulevard trees and provides low-cost trees for residents to plant in their own yards.

Thanks for the replies guys...

For the people who have been to cities like Portland, Seattle, or Atlanta, does Minneapolis have lush, green, and tall trees like those cities?

it's not as forested as those places, but I think it is in the top 10 or 15 in the USA for urban tree canopy. the rivers and lakes are very prominent, and they are all surrounded by trees.

Forested! That's the word, forested... Is Minneapolis deeply forested? I like a lot of trees, they're beautiful and they provide oxygen.

Aside from the cold winters, Minneapolis seems like it would be a excellent city to live. Cost of living is a little high, but you get what you pay for.

No but it would rank right below those cities.

The Twin Cities region is in the transition zone between Upper Midwest Forests and flat Midwestern farmland.

Atlanta is a city that is literally in the middle of a huge forest.

I wouldn't say it's "deeply" forested

it's not really in a forest like Seattle, Portland or Atlanta. but there are a lot of trees. i would say it's one of the most tree-having non-forest places in the US, if that makes sense.
