Hi Everyone,
I am contemplating a move to Minneapolis from the San Fernando Valley area (North Hollywood). Is there anyone who either lived in the San Fernando Valley area or Los Angeles who moved to Minneapolis that might be willing to give there opinions on the people, ability to make friendships, cost of living, etc. Any advice or facts would be greatly appreciated in helping me make my decision.

Minneapolis is a trendy, vibrant city. Lots to do and pretty young. More options to live downtown are being built all the time. If you live in the City you should have no trouble meeting people. Suburban life is a little different as things tend to wrap around family activities (lots of kids play sports). The hardest adjustment will be the winter if you were born/bred in SoCal.

Don.t do it alone if you don.t have a mate or family here. Moved here from Chicago. The mistake has become evident in the past 3 years. Forget about a social life, dating or making genuine friends. Google the stereotypes of longtime MN residents--it.s all horrifyingly true. COL in 1st ring suburb is higher than 3rd ring IL burbs.
