Great weather, gorgeous, clean town that is easy to get around, and great for doing outdoor sports!
The job scene here is pretty bad and the city certainly has an older population. It's not like there aren't any younger professionals but there are fewer than many areas. As nice as Sarasota can be it's certainly not for everyone. It's basically a vacation and retirement area. The vacation atmosphere can be fun for younger people and most of the twenty somethings I know gravitate toward the beach/tikki bars but there are few bigger and more cosmopolitan clubs.

It's been great for my wife and I but now I'm going to have to learn to love MN because we'll be moving to Linden Hills in just a few weeks I've already bought a hat and gloves.

I would like to share on this.

We have moved around a lot over the last 10+ years now. Originally born and raised in in Mn. I was raised in Rochester and later worked in Minneapolis and my wife was from Hudson WI and worked in Minneapolis. WE couldn't wait to leave MN 11 years ago. Like most, the cold weather was taking its toll. We moved to Washington DC then to Charlotte, Dallas TX, and then continued to move around. I always wanted to live in Tampa or Jax. We almost moved to Jax before we moved to Charlotte the first time but just didn't like it as much as we thought we did. We continued to move around and even moved back to MN for 6 months in 2009. and then moved away again We got spoiled living in Charlotte NC and Dallas with beautiful weather year round. well long story short, about a year and a half ago we finally had he chance to move to Tampa with great jobs, my wife's uncle live there, once of my best friends from my young adult years lives there, and a few other friends too. We went down to house hunt and hated it. Even though we would go to Tampa bout twice a year and love it. It was just a different feeling once it becomes reality. So.... we actually ended up moving to Denver CO. We thought the Midwestern feel, a cooler more temperate climate, closer to family, a more educated progressive area would be great as well as give us a change. Well 6 months in and I personally regret the move. Winter was terrible and I thought to myself "I grew up in Minnesota, I can handle any winter" I was so wrong, forginve my language but Ive felt like such a huge ***** all winter. I cant get my toes or fingers to stay warm, I don't go do anything when its below 30 etc. I really regret leaving the south.

I think we always get tired of the place we live and want to go back home, or someplace different. Just like the people in MN dream of living on the beach. But honestly, once you adapt to a certain lifestyle whether you admit it or not, its hard to change and especially go back to one you once had. It isn't the same. We go back to MN often and every time I begin to think that I could move back. It only takes me a few days of being back before I realize that I don't fit in there anymore. Things change, people change, progression takes place with out us. SO let me leave this post with this quote which really sticks with me every time I think about going BACK somewhere ive been because I think it will be the same....
