Hi All - looking for a list of health food stores around Minneapolis/St. Paul and surrounding suburbs. I know there are Whole Foods stores...what else? Thanks for any help you can provide!

There are tons of coops scattered all over the metro, and don't forget about the numerous farmers markets in the summer!

If my health food store you mean co-ops, they are everywhere. Wedge, Seward, Lakewinds, Linden Hills, Mississippi Market, Eastside.... and lots, lots more. There are more here per capita than anywhere else, I've heard. If you live or work in a certain area and are looking for something, let us know and I bet someone here will be familiar with one near that area.

Not living in MN yet but planning to move soon. We are not sure where we will end up but likely a Western or Southern suburb. I was just curious how easy it would be for me to find organic / non-GMO type foods as well as allergy friendly options (1 kid with severe food allergies). I'm fine with Whole Foods but would love additional options as well....happy to hear about all of the co-ops!!

In the southern suburbs, Valley Natural Coop in Apple Valley (or is it Burnsville?)

Costco carries a small but substantial selection of organic foods ("GMO-free" and "all-natural" are, IMHO, meaningless). Cub Foods and Byerlys/Lunds do as well. I looked at Aldi's weekly ad recently and noticed how they were focusing on organic meats and produce.

It's great to hear all the organic options available. Which places do you think are the most affordable? I'd like to avoid the expensive ones!

On a per organic calorie basis, Costco is probably the most efficient, even when taking into account the annual fee - but only if one needs to buy in bulk, and nothing goes to waste.

Byerlys has some loss leaders - e.g., organic whole milk that is cheaper than Costco's.
