I got out of bed and accidentally stepped on my toshiba laptop. toshiba says warranty wont cover screen damage. The pc still works. but i have 2 purple lines. one going diagonally. is there any place where i can get this fixed??

Sounds like you'll need a new LCD screen. I've replaced the LCD screen in my laptop before, it took about 20-25 minutes and I bought a replacement off Ebay and just googled for instructions on how to do it.

If you go into a store you're likely to get taken for a ride with the cost. I'd recommend going on Craigslist and looking for someone who is a computer technician who can do the work for you on the side for cheap. Ask the person to draw up a quote for how much parts will cost and then when he/she finds the parts make sure the price on the quote matches what you can find online. There shouldn't be much labor involved, 1 hour or less.

Remember, a new laptop can be had for $350-$400 so if yours is several years old and they want $200 to fix it I would think long and hard about it.

this computer i bought in december. its not even a year old. im just pissed that the warranty wont cover it.
