I have to do something with my grandfathers car. It is a 1999 Chevy Blazer with 140K miles. I put it on craigslist a week ago but have only gotten a couple replies from people with names like "BAZZ 4234d" who just write "call me."

I think i would prefer to just sell it to a lot or someone who takes old cars, but there are hundreds of them and I don't know how to differentiate between them or if they are all the same. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I don't know anything about used car lots, but are you on any buy/sell/barter Facebook pages for your Saint Paul neighborhood? Some people sell cars there. Like Craigslist, but you are dealing with someone who is a local, real person.

No I am not. Good idea. I guess the only issue is the car is stored in St. Paul but I don't live in St. Paul. I wonder if I can join a group where it would be more likely to sell. I feel like it would sell better to some high school kid in Bemdiji or something.

While selling a (higher) value item like a car on Craigslist can be iffy, with all due respect, if the vehicle you have advertised is in reasonable condition, the lack of responses just means that the asking price is too high.

Last summer, I put a 10-year old manual compact car on Craigslist for my sister-in-law. Scammy request than silence when it was listed for $2400; a couple of legitimate inquires when I lowered the price to $2000; several "live" ones when the price went to $1800. Sold it within a week of lowering the price to $1800.

People who are looking for a car or truck on Craigslist want (demand) a few simple things:
1) Lots of high-quality photos: front, side, rear, closeups of common rust areas, seats and dashboard, under the hood and trunk/hatch lid.

2) Detailed and honest descriptions of maintenance and repair history, and a complete list of current problems and maintenance due or overdue.

3) A reasonable price. Too low and it will be sold in a couple hours, and you'll wish you had asked for more. Too high and, well, you can guess.
