I'm looking at possibly moving down to the Grand Ave area where i work currently and was wondering what are some of the thoughts of the apartments in the area. I'm looking mostly at 1 bedroom apts that aren't too expensive but are still located in a nice area. One complex I've been interested in are the Selby Grotto Apartments. Any suggestions will help.

Thanks

You will have to let us know what 'expensive' it. It is a pretty relative term. For the most part Grand Ave is great. I am not familiar with the Selby Grotto Apts specifically though.

I've rented twice near or on Grand Ave using the same real estate company - Wolkowicz Properties. I had a great experience both times. They let me have a lease of less than a year, charged very reasonable rent ($750 5 years ago, $675 3 years ago), and were very friendly to deal with. If you're looking at the busier east end of Grand I'd consider looking off a few blocks or parking will be a nightmare. Last time I rented I looked at a bunch of places right on and they were all horrible and expensive, so I called WP who I had rented from before and found the perfect place on Chatsworth. It was a one bedroom that had been completely gutted and redone (new walls, new kitchen and bathroom) for only $675.

Wolkowicz Properties
(651) 699-4303
885 Saint Paul Ave, #9, St Paul, MN 55116

Good luck! If they don't work out, just drive around and look for phone numbers on vacancy signs, these apartment complexes don't really advertise places like apartments.com.

That's the best area. You don't have to live right on Grand Avenue either. It's only drawback is limited parking, particularly garages.
