I currently live in the suburbs (23 miles from my job in downtown mpls) and my commute door to door is about an hour most days. I've been looking to find a commute and home which would be 20-30 minutes door to door. I'm a single woman (no kids, so schools don't matter to me) so want to be in a safe neighborhood which also would be in walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc (within a mile). I've been looking at highland park and Mac grove in Saint Paul and while I love it is so centrally located, it'll still be about half hour commute so am wondering if there's any other good locations but a bit closer? keep in mind I'll need transit options to get to work so a bus or light rail is a must (I can drive to the light rail but need to include that as part of my commute time)

thank you so much in advance!

What type of home are you looking for? Would NE minneapolis or maybe the uptown area work for you?

single family home less than $300k (roughly 1500 sq feet with 3 bedrooms and preferably 2 baths) I'm not sure if Minneapolis is really my thing but haven't ruled it out.

St. Anthony, Roseville, New Brighton?

Somewhere around the Dinky Town area? Somewhere near Grand Ave, perhaps?

St. Louis Park offers fantastic access to Dt Minneapolis and probably fits your other criteria

thanks for the tips! I'm also looking to be centrally located to everything (eg, airport, xcel center, moa, shopping centers-- so basically be able to get anywhere within 15-20 min)

Maple grove and Plymouth both offer downtown bus shuttle services. I know for a fact the maple grove bus takes roughly 20 minutes from the arbor lakes transit station. They are nice and have wifi too and business type people only.

somewhere around minnehaha park would provide a lot of what you're looking for but you'd get some airport noise. and due to that highland. park or mac-groveland might be a better choice.

St. Louis Park, Richfield and Bloomington could be good options as well.

Just saw you wish to be only 15-20 minutes from airport, yeah Maple Grove and Plymouth will not fit that bill. St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Bloomington would be more aligned with that.
