Hi,

I have to move out of my current apartment in two months and am now looking for a suburban 1-bedroom apartment. (I previously lived in St. Paul and decided I prefer living in suburbs, if possible.)

I was originally looking in the Champlin area, as I have family there I'd like to live by; however, apartments are limited. I've gotten the impression I should avoid Brooklyn Park and Coon Rapids. I currently live in Eagan... and wish I could stay here, but it doesn't seem feasible.

Any ideas of good suburbs with good apartment complexes that also have good bus lines to downtown Minneapolis? (I cannot drive to work in downtown.)

Any thoughts are HIGHLY appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

Craigslist was a good source when I was looking for an apartment. Also try apartments.com and the strib apartments section. Since you are rather open regarding location, see what's available in your price range first.

Try Apple Valley. They have the express buses from the transit station and there are apartments within easy walking distance to the station. I don't know what they are called though.

Brooklyn Park, I understand, but what's wrong with Coon Rapids? They'll have a Northstar transit station opening soon, and they already have a huge park and ride into DT Minneapolis.

Maybe St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Plymouth, or possibly Maple Grove? Those, (along with Coon Rapids) would keep you somewhat close to the Champlin area, with bus service to Minneapolis available.

Apple Valley, while not without its merits, would take a healthy donation to "big oil" every time he went to see family, not to mention over an hour for the round trip.
