Hello!
We are looking to possibly move this spring. Possibly to TX but that's another thread.
If we stay in MN we'd like to move from Elk River to a closer burb to Mpls. Our commutes have changed in the last few months and we need to cut down on time in the car for more time at home. Our oldest daughter is currently in 9th grade at ERHS. I am worried about whether she will fit in/be accepted as a new girl. She's out going, an A honor roll student on the HS tennis team and danceteam. Although we live in a conservative city we are not so I think we'd fit in, in general. We have lived in ER for 12 years in an upper middle class area, although I'm certain if we move to the Mtka, SLP, Edina, Eden Prairie or Hopkins area we won't get as much house for our money. I have heard that the Mtka, Edina and surrounding area kids are hard to get in with, very clique. Meaning they aren't as accepting of new girls. Is this true, do you have any experience with this? Do you have a recommendation of a SW school district that would be easier to be a new kid? My other two will still be Elementary and middle school next year so I am not as worried about them. Thank you for your time!

I am sure there are lots of new kids that go to those schools and fit in quite nicely, probably every school year there would be lots of them. More than likely your kids wont have any difficulty.

We moved to Edina this past summer with 3 boys (currently 8th gr and
5th). Had heard the same warnings about cliques, but our transition
Was great. The elementary classroom absorbed the kids like they
Had always been there and there were several new kids.
Next years 10th graders at edina will just be moving up to the high
School, combining the 9th graders from 2 different middle schools.
All of the kids in 10th grade will at least be new to half their
Classmates. I think that could be a great entry point ... plus you kids wo
Would still be close to their friends in the northern suburbs.
