Hi there,

Typically I have a heated garage in my apartment building but I have to travel for work. Usually, I leave my car at the long term parking at MSP. However, we are expecting an Arctic Blast this week with teens and single digit temps, and I need to leave my car there for 5 days. Do you think it is a good idea? I don't have an engine block heater or anything like that. Just worried that my battery may die after leaving it out for so long.

Thanks in advance!

Get your battery tested beforehand at an auto parts store. If it's in good shape you'll be fine. Many people park cars outside all winter.

Now YOU might not be fine hoping into a fridged car to go home upon arriving from MSP.

"with teens and single digit temps "
I certainly don't call that an " artic blast" when it is DECEMBER in MINNESOTA

In 2013, my wife's funeral was on December 7 in central Minnesota and as we left the funeral mass at church and arrived at the graveyard it was -13 at 12 noon.

that is an "artic blast"

temps dropping to single digits?.........pfffffft

Single digits should not be a concern.

I've left my car at MSP many times in the winter for periods of four-five days without issue. I have a regular conference the first week of February that I have hit each of the past five years and left my car there, among which included days/nights well below zero.

Never hurts to get your battery tested this time of year anyway if it is older.

I was just thinking about issue for a trip I have coming up. I might go with Uber as well.

I would typically leave my car at home, and Uber to the nearest light rail station. Those Uber fees to/from the airport can rack up fast.

I prefer that someone arranges for A Car to be sent for me and await me upon arrival...and it has to be the same car and driver too (they hate it when I insist on that last part)

Usually outragously expensive for parking even long term "discount rates". Uber is a great way to go.
