Summer time is here, today is the end of May and the sun is out and the weather is beautiful.

Where are some of your favorite beach spots in the area? today i went to Carver lake beach in Woodbury, only because its the closest to my house... its a very nice spot nestled in the woods, a lot of park trails and a great spot for cyclist to go... the lake is pretty tiny and so is the beach, water is shallow... freeway is nearby so you can hear the traffic off in the distance.

the most active beach ive been to around here was probably one of the Lake Calhoun beaches in Minneapolis... couldn't believe how many people you would see, you feel like you are in California

We used to go throw a football around in water at White Bear years ago. It was sandy and no rocks, so was perfect and I see it's finally open again.

Yeah I can really only think of the Calhoun/Harriet/LoI area, but even most of that isn't really "beach"... and the sandy spots along the Mississippi tend to look a bit... "post-industrial"

The beaches on the east side of Lake Nokomis and south Lake Harriet are both small, quiet beaches. No rafts, concessions, or crowds. Mostly families with their kids.

I used to go out to a beach on the Saint Croix in Hudson. It was like an islandsand bar connected by the railroad to the main land. Not sure how to post a picture of the location but it was usually a place you had to yourself or few other people. At least that was the case years ago when I went there. If you look at Hudson on a map just look for the railroad track crossing the river a bit to the north of town.

Looking on Google maps it looks like they may have made it into a more organized park now, back then it was all abandoned woods. Anyway for what it is worth it was a huge chunk of sand out in the river.
