Everyone has done an excellent job pointing out the key points of the cities here but I just want to add the Science Museum in St Paul. It is gorgeous! Very new and right in the river, beautiful views. They have an omnitheater and play various documentaries throughout the year. One of my favorite places to visit, I’m actually a member

From PGH, not MPLS but as a huge Prince fan I'd recommend a visit to Paisley Park out in Chanhassen. It's Prince's former studio complex.

I haven't been there since he's passed (I was there when he was alive for a few parties), but they've now turned it into a museum and they've done a pretty good job from what I've heard (the same folks that run Graceland run Paisley Park).

SRS - You're making a good choice to at least visit this wonderful area. I'm down here in the Cities two days a week. I don't find much comparable to Pittsburgh besides the non-flat topography. This place is big, busy and diverse.

When I am here I'm staying in Bloomington. When I'm not, I'm about three hours away in North Central MN. Still learning my way around here but pretty comfortable with it.

Keep us posted as to when you're going to make the trip.

Speaking as a fellow Pennsylvanian (I was born and raised in Philly but most of the family now lives in Pittsburgh), go to the Twin Cities, you will absolutely love it.

I think the neighborhoods bordering Minnehaha Park would compare to Squirrel Hill.

I first went in 2009 and fell in love with The Cities.

I returned in 2015 with my new wife and she fell in love with The Cities as well.

We have had such good experiences there that it is on our short list of places to retire to in a few years.

Oops, typo for sure. Should have been SCR. I'm from Pittsburgh, just trying to encourage the visit. Pretty sure he'd like it here.
