Since I am the poster to whom you were responding, I must clarify that, unlike you, I was never “upset” about anything said about the weather and was merely correcting some factual errors and exaggeration.

You may now unknot your undies.
I was actually referring to the poster who got their lace knickers in a knot over my comment about the April blizzard, as well as the Mensa member who REALLY got his jimmies rustled by my comment about touchy Minnesota folks- in THAT regard I TRULY appreciate you all proving my point for me. In your defenses, I admit I didn't make it very clear on my edit reason, so I apologize for that.
All ribbing aside, WHY are so many Minnesota folks so ultra sensitive to ANY criticism of their state????
I've actually stated on this forum, that Minny is One of, or THE best state in America, yet so many here and in real life get so touchy when myself or ANYONE dare criticize ANY aspect of MN. Yes my brother and I think it's the best state, but that doesn't mean it's perfect, or that everyone will think it's the best state. Just something Ive noticed not just here, but on any social media page, be it Star Tribune, or elsewhere! It may be heaven, but it isn't perfect

I guess people just like it here. I’ve always wondered why former residents and residents of neighboring states feel a need to bash Minnesota. I am not a native, and I saw plenty of shortcomings in the state I left, but I never felt a need to go on that state’s forum and knock it, or mix it up with the people in the Wisconsin forum about their state. And though there would be plenty of material, it just never seemed polite, appropriate, or necessary.

But hey, you do you, dude.
Most of my posts are not in this forum. The fact that my posts are so omnipotent in your mind when my posting statistics prove I spend way more time in other places...says more about you than me. And perhaps that's an issue you need to explore and work out within yourself. Projection is such a dangerous thing. It focuses on the other person instead of what we can change about ourselves.

My experiences in your state were overall terrible. And I believe much of it had to do with my race. So I am absolutely going to warn people like me (young black professionals) about moving there, because I took a step backwards moving there. I unfortunately believed the hype, to my own detriment. I don't want anyone else making the mistakes i did. If you read my warnings and choose to move there anyway, that's on you. But if you were never warned...how could you know what to look out for? That's why I contribute. Hope that makes things clearer for you.

Do you still live in Minnesota? If not, where do you live now?

Who hurt you? You get dumped by someone from MN?

Is this your mission in life to get on internet message board and warn people not to move to MN based on your experience ?

Yes, that must be it. I wonder if that's the same reason for other transplants, many white, who have similar stories about thr nature of Minnesotans. Everyone but Minnesotans are the problem. We're all lying about our experiences because we just want to make the natives feel bad about themselves. Yep. That must be it.

I feel like I've lost track of what we've been talking about, but as a white transplant (if that's an important qualification), my observation is that the issues with native Minnesotans are not unique to Minnesota. I think there in general is a transplant vs. native divide that I have seen in all the places I've moved to. It is easier to make friends with transplants because transplants are usually the ones also seeking out friends.

That being said, I will not and would not comment on race. If treemoni believes that his race is a factor, then I will of course defer. Being of the dominant race and culture, I cannot comment on the veracity of his comments in that regard.

Thank you so much for this statement. In all my time here, I can't recall anyone stepping aside and saying, "Maybe I shouldn't comment because I can't possibly understand this person's reality. " It's always ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK; DEFEND DEFEND DEFEND. My skin color is something I can never hide, and unfortunately I get judged for it before people know anything else about me. Often by people whose only real interaction with POC is through biased media.

You made my day.
