What are your thoughts about working at Best Buy HQ?
Salary seems below market rate, but was wonder if anyone had heard if it was a good place to work

Some are closed in the cities.

We passed by a store a few weeks ago, it was closed. Do not know where it was though.

HQ = their headquarters
There is no way that their corporate headquarters are closed.

The HQ in Richfield didn't close. They closed a bunch of smaller stores over the past couple years.

Best Buy has made a nice comeback from the brink of bankruptcy. Can't speak to what it's actually like to work at the HQ, but it does appear the company is stable again on the heels of some smarter management. If salary is below market rate it could have something to do with their continuing efforts to reorganize.

We have a friend who has worked for Best Buy for quite a while and really likes the company.

I also have a friend that started working there a year or so ago. Came there from another company in the metro. I hear only good things from her about working there. She has a group of friends there now and they do some weekend outings together once in a while.

I was an intern there in 2005, and they gave me a full time offer. I took it, and 4 months in I got laid off with 500 others. I actually loved the laid back atmosphere there.

But they do pay below market, and they do routine layoffs. They call it "tornado Tuesday"......the layoffs usually come on Tuesdays. Once again, a laid back company with a much more genuine, blue collar vibe than Target HQ

Thanks folks!

It came down to 3M vs Best Buy and I've taken the job at Best Buy?
3M paid more, but was in a slightly different area.
BB pays less, but is a continuation of what I'm doing currently
