I could understand if you lived in another state but it seems like you live in MN. So take the trip over to the Twin Cities. It would be the best experience just to go there and get the feel yourself.
Actually I am out of state so this is not an option. I did get an apartment finder from the Twin Cities area. I also have gone online to some rental web-sites.

I think you're actually from out-of-state, right? Unless you're planning a trip here soon, I'd say wandering around town isn't going to be a fair option for you. Renting while you adjust to a new area, though, is actually great advice.
Yes, I am out-of-state. I definately plan on renting intially (if I even get the job and move). I currently live in a cottage at the edge of a national forest. I just don't want to give myself culture shock at first - wilderness to the city type of thing.

^I guess I don't have much more to offer than this: Welcome to the Twin Ciities!

I do hope you find what you are looking for. The suggestions about St. Louis Park seem spot-on to me. I also think Minneapolis itself has some great neighborhoods in the SW quarter of the city, also close to St. Louis Park.

I hope you don't worry too much about a culture shock. After all, most people in the Twin Cities would salivate at the idea of having a cottage at the edge of a National Forest like you have!!! Really!
