Why are minneapolis noise barriers taller then other states. Just seems to have a bigger city feel in cities like Chicago and Indianapolis and other cities when you can see the city driving on the highway. I think it looks cool actually lol when you can actually see the city driving in..

They are more effective as a noise barrier when they’re taller. That benefit to the residents who live near the freeway is seen as more important than the view for passing motorists.

I don’t know why they are taller than other states but as someone who lives in the city near a freeway, I am quite appreciative of the extra sound protection the barriers provide.
