there are so many attractive places to go, Minneapolis is down at the bottom of the list, culturally, and politically for most Americans. Good luck erasing that stigma.

Please expand on this if you don’t mind. How is Minneapolis at the bottom of the list culturally? Also, if that is the case then why would anyone care if it recovered from the George Floyd riots since the city was already doomed to begin with?

This is nonsense.

The Mall of America is the second most visited tourist attraction in the US, and is second only to Times Square. MOA draws more visitors than the Las Vegas Strip and more than twice as many visitors as Disney World.

Off topic was dwelling way too long about if Minneapolis/St. Paul is one city or two AND comparing it to Detroit.
You want to talk about that - start a new thread.
If you forgot what about is THIS thread, please read the title and the OP.

BTW: OP is not coming back to read it, so maybe there is no reason to continue...

Many threads on this site continue for a long time without any participation by the OP.

Only a person with a complete lack of understanding of basic statistics would try to draw similarites between the two cities. Clearly, those posters who want to draw parallels between the two cities have either a personal failing in math or the system failed to provide basic statistical education.
Only a person with a complete lack of reading comprehension would spend so much time gathering this data to give someone a "gotcha" moment. If you read what I (and other posters wrote) - We didn't suggest MSP is like Detroit. We are saying it might one day in the future be like Detroit if current trends continue. Since you're talking about data, I'd venture to say in the 50s and 60s Detroit was far ahead of most cities in terms of wealth, education level, etc.

You think those 50% educated people won't move out of MSP if things really do go down the gutter?

There are so many reasons why Minneapolis won't end up like this. Even with the spike in crime it is still safer than most of the top major cities in the country.

Interesting perspective. I'd like to agree with it...what data are you using to conclude that MPLS is safer than most of the top major cities in the country?

I don't think it's particularly safe. Only a bone-head would walk around certian parts of Minneapolis at night without a pistol.

Minneapolis landed on the 25th spot on the list, with a violent crime rate of 1,063 incidents per 100,000 residents. The website noted that robbery is especially common in Minneapolis, with 459 reported incidents per 100,000 residents – the 10th highest robbery rate in the nation.

You mean only a scarey cat suburbanite? In the link you provided, Mpls was ranked relatively low at 25.
