My friend and I are planning on movie to Minneapolis (or a suburb, wherever we can find a cheap apartment
) and, being from North Dakota, I wouldn't be used to the big city traffic, and would want to wait till i knew where I was going before I start driving. I was wondering, what are all the kind of public transportation in the big city.

Well, there are buses, taxis and one light rail line that goes from the mall of america, to the airport, through the southeastern part of Minneapolis and stops downtown. The train has exceeded expectations though and several other lines are in the works. Don't expect to see them for a few years though.

I would rate public transportation in Minneapolis proper as excellent, in St. Paul proper as good, and in the suburbs as fair to poor depending on where you are. But everyone has a different opinion.

I would agree with you for the most part but I think all three areas have alot of room for improvement. Thankfully the new rail lines are going to improve things quite a bit.
