Hi,

I'm looking to buy a big screen TV - preferably Plasma in the 40-46" range, possibly 50" if it's a really good price. Can anyone recommend somewhere other than say Costco, Sam's Club, Best Buy and Circuit City?

Thanks,
Brad

Ultimate Electronics is very competative with BB and CC. There are quite a few locations. Minnetonka, Edina, Roseville all have one. Still a bit toward big box, but they do focus on electronics only, and they have service, delivery ... They have been on the ropes with going under, but seem to be doing better lately.

I always ask myself, how will the experiance be when something goes wrong? Mondo big box store you mentioned all do poorly at service.

Costco has always had a great warranty/return policy on TV's.

Many people referred to it as a free TV upgrade plan until it was restricted slightly last year because of too much abuse.

Well, if you don't mind shopping on the web we got a great deal from Newegg.

The website is: http://www.newegg.com (broken link)

I really like Newegg also. I buy all of my computer stuff through them.

If you're looking to buy cheap used try craigslist or that annual electronics sale at the Minneapolis convention center. I can't remember what it's called.

I have a costco membership and would never buy a TV there. They tend to have some good deals if you don't mind last years model.

Default MPC in Eagan

I've known a few people that have bought TVs from the MPC Surplus Store in Eagan. Basically, the majority of the TVs are refurbished (MPC is an electronics recycler- they ran that recycling event at MOA last year) and a great deal. For instance, one friend of mine got a 42" plasma Samsung for $500.
