I'm glad that you love it already!

Haha, I guess that's true. I think the best compromise would be that the ignorant become informed on the importance and the benefits of the TC's, but that they stay where they are

I am in complete agreement. We moved from Florida and MN is such a great unknown - which is fine by me - we are loving it! My sisterin law from Florida called yesterday and asked what was their to do in winter here - as they were thinking of visiting. I got so annoyed- really? what is there to do anywhere in winter. I then encouraged them to visit the big apple.

--"Minnesota is such a great unknown"--

MN is well known in Chicago and Gary Indiana for its generous welfare benefits.( and in most other states that have welfare benefits lower than MN)

I wonder if they make fun of the accent of the person working in the welfare office when they turn in their application.

Most newscasters try to learn to talk "miswestern". While we kind of overextend our vowels here ie Minnesotah, Haht dish, and Lake Minnetawnka. If you step over to the second or third tier suburbs it does become far more prominent.
Again, it is what it is.

I don't think there is a Twin Cities accent (as in Twin Cities-specific). The Twin Cities accent is just a more subdued version of the MN accent.

Which TC folks? All of us? Just curious, what kind of a folk are you? Are any of your kind of folk elitist? How does making an observation about speech patterns make one an "elitist"? Just askin'.
