A GREAT article that finally gives much deserved attention to some "good news" for a change. Anybody who wrote off Minneapolis because of perceptions of high crime need to reconsider their decision and let the stats speak for themselves:

6 months in, and only 6 homicides in Minneapolis (http://www.startribune.com/local/49895387.html?elr=KArksCiUnP:E8c7PiUiD3aPc:_Yy c:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUr - broken link)

I have been watching this too. I was thinking that summer weather would make a spike like it ussually does, but so far it has not. Let's hope that this continues.

I hated living in the twin cities, but I never gave crime a thought. I thought it was basically non existant there.

Yeah. You tell 'em Saved. Minneapolis should have more crime like a "real American city" like Chicago. Chicago is way better at crime. Minneapolis can't do anything right.

2009 Homicides through June
Chicago - 202 (down 13% from 2008 but there's plenty of time left in 2009).
Minneapolis - 6 (you call that a city?!)

>> GREEN DOTS=March
>> YELLOW DOTS=April
>> PURPLE DOTS=May
>> PINK DOTS=June

Anyone who wants to refer to MPLS as "Murderapolis", they have a problem.

I don't live in Mpls(but I have relatives who live there), but when I hear about Mpls having a very low murder rate for the past few years(especially compared to 1995), I feel some kind of pride.
