We are relocating to MN and my husband will be working in Eagan. Right off of 35. Not sure of traffic in Minneapolis. How would the commute be from St. Louis Park?

It could be 20 minutes it could be an hour depending on what his hours are. He would be going against the worst traffic so that would help some. Highway 100 to the crosstown to 494 wouldn't be too bad of a commute. Why St. Louis Park if he is working in Eagan?

We like the older homes for starters. We are moving from a 'mature' neighborhood with trees, old homes, etc. and are looking for a similar feel. Don't want so much of the sprawling suburb feel. We have some homes in St. Paul and Southwest Minneapolis too we are looking at, but St. Louis Park seems to have the most homes in our price range that we like so far. My mother-in-law also lives in Maple Grove, so we want to be a little closer to family than Eagan would be for us.

thanks for the info

You might want to consider Hastings, Rosemount, West St. Paul as options if you are working in Eagan. One thing to think about is that you will be driving to work during rush hour every day and to the MIL's on weekends probably. The commute time from Eagan to Maple Grove on a Saturday afternoon is about 30 minutes but the commute time DAILY from St. Louis Park to Eagan is going to be at LEAST 30 minutes. Just a thought from someone who hates driving in traffic .

You'll be driving to Eagan almost every single day. Will you be driving to your family in Maple Grove that often? If not, pick a place closer to Eagan. If money permits, think Eden Prairie. Bloomington (west) and Burnsville have some beautiful neighborhoods like what you describe too.

I've sold houses in Bloomington that run in the high $200K's that may work for you. Contact me if you'd like more info about the area.
