Famous Dave's in Calhoun Square in Uptown has an incredible spread, including made to order omelets.

Avoid Old Country Buffet. Too noisy and crowded, and its "industrial-quality" food - although if your only choice for breakfast/lunch is something super-quick you could pop in for a take-out container and it'll be as cheap and better quality than McDonald's or Burger King for about the same amount of time and money ($6).
How can you put Old Country Buffet in the same sentence with McDonald's and Burger King? The buffet is one of the few chain restaurants I can respect. It's comfort food and obviously they aren't using the most complex recipes but it's definitely not manufacturered.

The new McDonald's Angus Mushroom and Swiss burger is arguably better than anything served at Old Country Buffet.

That said, I like Old Country Buffet. No, it isn't much more than basic food, but it seems to be fairly consistent, and you certainly don't leave hungry!

Santorini used to have a great huge buffet brunch in St. Louis Park. They moved to Eden Prairie. Don't know if they still do it. Spasso in Minnetonka isn't bad. Good desserts. And will agree with the person that liked Famous Daves Calhoun.
