Hi all - I am hoping you might be able to recommend one or two of those places that prepares meals for you to pick up and take home in the Bloomington area. I am a native of MN living in NC for the past decade-plus. I would like to purchase a gift certificate for elderly loved ones in the Bloomington area to help with a few meals. I've searched online to with no luck.

Suggestions and website/contact info are much appreciated!

Boy, I don't know of any--unless you are thinking of places like Let's Dish where you go in and mix up the ingredients and take them home--they might do it for you, I am not sure. The only thing I can think of that it a take and bake type place is Papa John's Pizza.

I've never been to Let's Dish, but they do offer ready-made options at at least some of their local stores. They also offer delivery.

And it's not really what you're looking for, but the grocery stores have increasingly large deli sections; Lunds and Byerly's have a lot, and do offer gift cards. I think Cub Foods (cheaper than Byerly's) has been experimenting with some Let's Dish-style meal options, although I haven't seen them in action. All the local major grocery stores have pretty well-stocked delis, though.

You might be able to purchase a one or two week 2000 calorie plan from Seattle Sutton. It looks like pretty good food, and if they're elderly its probably all or more than they need.

Thanks for the good suggestions. I'll look into Let's Dish - sounds kinda like what I had in mind. Looks like there is a location in Edina. Is the food good?

Most casual dine chains offer their food "to go." You could get a gift certificate/card to the following which have locations nearby. I'm almost positive all of the following offer their meals TO GO:

-Baker's Square
-Perkins
-Denny's
-Embers
-Old Country Buffet
-Applebees
-TGI Fridays
-Chilis
