Has anybody else noticed this road sign on Dean Parkway in Minneapolis between Cedar Lake and Lake of the Isles that says "Please Duckling Crossing Area"? The "Please" really seems out of place to me with no further wording on the sign.

Here is the location on Google Street View, but you can't read it well.....

It means simply ducks cross in the area so Please be careful and stop to let them pass
Signs like this are common in many city communities.

Please use caution in these areas slow down or stop and wait for them to cross

I know what it means, but "Please Duckling Crossing Area" is very odd wording.

It is strange wording. "Please slow down" or "Please use caution" would be much better.

I agree that the wording is funny -- it sounds like a choppy translation. I don't know the history of the sign; maybe someone was looking for a duck crossing sign online and that one was the first or the cheapest one that popped up.

We've seen/joked about this sign in the past as well- they must have scrapped part of the phrase in lieu of the great ducklings graphics. I believe it's supposed to be read as "PLEASE!!!" with an implied "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD....DUCKLINGS CROSS HERE!!!"...

I'd like to see some bumper stickers made that read "I brake for 'PLEASE...DUCKLING CROSSING AREAs'" or "Start SEEING Duckling Crossing Areas- PLEASE!!!".
