Target. I avoid Walmart as much as possible. I would have to pass multiple Target stores to find a Walmart anyway.

Target. It's easier to get to, a local company and doesn't make me feel clausterphobic.

With that I have softened on Walmart and don't loathe it like I used to.

Target!! I refuse to give my money to Walmart. I prefer my money to go to a smaller independent places when possible, but at least Target is local and the money is staying in MN, and so far Target's business practices aren't as bad as Walmart's. They also seem to be pretty good as far as things like philanthropy and general support of the community goes.

The corner stores and markets get my money first and then after that I shop at Whole Foods for other things. I never go to Target or Wal Mart.

It depends on what I need to buy but mostly I go to Target because it is closer. I often find Target's selection very limited though, even at the Super Targets.

There is a Target a few blocks from our house (Lake Street & Hiawatha Ave) so we go there regularly. The closest Walmart to us is Midway and that place is a total dump with the most unhelpful staff on the planet. The only thing I like about Walmart is that it's open 24 hours. Anyways, my vote was for Target.

Another vote here for Target. Like to support the local company.
Target seems to have a friendlier atmosphere, in terms of both personnel and merchandising.
Wal-Mart is making moves to open up its shopping environment (wider aisles, lower shelving, etc), but I always feel more comfortable in Target.

I prefer Target.
I used to loath Wal-Mart for their tactics of destroying small towns. Wal-Mart's #1 comptetitor is itself. They have said that they don't even try to compete with Target, they just comptete with themselves. They'll actually close down and take business from their own stores. That's their business model.
But, Wal-Mart is finally taking steps to improve their image, but I'll always choose Target.

This past xmas season I did shop at Wal-Mart twice, once finding a great $5 DVD bin, with actually good movies in it-not total busts. So that made me happy. However, I did try to buy the new Ipod there, and they were completely sold out, in every store in the metro. I drove 3 miles to Ultimate Electronics, where they price matched.

The next stop I went there to return a digital camera for a better one, and they were completely wiped out of cameras at the 3 stores I visited. Needless to say, I still have the camera.
