I really can't stand casinos, but that's just me.

A casino is SO not going to happen.

Block-E needs to be buried. Tear it down (except for Kieran's and the Graves), rebuild Moby Dick's, and move the Schubert back where it belongs. Give the rest of the block to the park board. Add topsoil, grass, trees, and a small amphitheater for public performances. They could call it call it Sayles-Belton Park.

I'm only kidding about the Schubert and Moby's. But I'm serious about the park. It sounds like the only way the people will ever get our money back from this horrible ongoing fiasco. Everyone is sick of hearing about block-e. Turning it into a park seems like a sure-fire way that we won't have to hear about it ever again.

If anyone has a better idea (not a worse idea, like a casino would be), I want to hear about it.

I'd expect something to happen with block E in the near future. Most of the closings are the result of the developer driving people out. Presumably he has something in mind for the site, although I don't know what that might be as a casino is pretty clearly not going to happen.

See, I figured it was a money pit for the owner and by vacating the site maybe he can free himself of the property through some loophole.....Otherwise, I have NO IDEA why any landlord would not want tenants in their building (is something going on under the table?).

Here's a good article about Alatus' purchase of Block E.

Block E: A Deal Alatus Could Not Refuse « Real Estate Matters

"...One significant factor that helped persuade Mr. Lux to move forward with the deal is the 550 heated underground parking spaces beneath Block E, at $25,455 per spot is inline with other parking structures around the city. Looking at the deal from this perspective, Alatus paid market rate for the parking, and got a deal sweetener that is quite impressive, approximately 213,000 sq/ft of retail space..."
