How far inland from the Superior shore do you have to go to excape the air conditioning effect?

Typically about 10 miles.

I live about 1 block from the lake and it was 54 when I got home at 7pm. I work 'on the hill' near the mall area, which was 60 when I got off at 6:50pm.

I used to go to Buffalo House (a bar/restaraunt/campsite) about 10 miles out of town on I35 for softball, and I'd dress in 50 dgre clothes but then I'd get to Buffalo House and it'd be 75 and sunny.

It's really weird, something I've never experienced before moving to Duluth. 'The Air Conditioning' effect is interesting. It really feels like the A/C is on!

Think of it like this:

In the winter, you have the heat on in your house @ 68 degrees
In the summer, you have the AV on in your house @ 68 degrees

Which feels cooler? Both the same temp but the winter 68 feels warm heat and the AC 68 feels cool. That's what Duluth is like

it's not the heat, it's the humidity

Why does Duluth weather suck so much. Check it out during the state forecasts, You'll see 75 in MPLS, 73 in STC, 73 in Rochester, 72 in Brainerd, 73 in Moorhead, then boom, 55 in Duluth. Thanks a lot Lake Superior. What a joke
Well, it's not like Lake Superior (and its rather large impact on local weather) is a new phenomenon.

Great weather today. I love heat and humidity. Looks like we've destroyed the MSP previous record of 88, which is good, since that was set in the very-dubious-record-keeping days of 1875. I don't believe that's accurate for a minute, so today is one more day we can get rid of those old "records."

I'm from Bend, Oregon and we have had light snow showers just about every night for weeks and I don't thing we've reached above 60 just as long. And once our Summer hits...(mid-end June? or July), it's all over by October.
