Depends what you're looking for, I guess. It's basically a large street fair. I liked it when I was in high school, but I went a couple of years ago and hated it. Parking situation is terrible, way too crowded, food was expensive, and having to stay in designated areas to have a beer sucked.

I agree. It is a large street fair with food vendors, some artists and several beer gardens. You basically walk up and down Grand Ave and eat. There are some bands and roving entertainers as well. If you like that sort of thing then go.

Definitely ride your bike, take a bus (it was free last year, believe it is again this year) or get dropped off if you go. It has pretty typical summer festival type food and very busy. If you enjoy crowds and people watching, drinking overpriced beer and wandering around Grand and checking the stores you'll probably have fun. They also have a ton of great music, which is why I like going. Grand Old Day 2010 Event Guide

We seem to go every year. It's fun, and parking isn't as bad as some make it out to be.

And there are few places where you can take a picture like this:

I'm sure. I took the photo at Grand Old Day a couple of years ago. I didn't go to Grand Old Day this year but I heard it was subpar because they switched to an overpriced ticket system. Previously, everything was cash.

That looks like a Lexington Avenue sign on the stoplight pole in the picture.
